The Mix Coffee Shops in Stowmarket, Needham Lake, Ipswich and Hadleigh are run by Suffolk-based youth work charity, The Mix.
​Our coffee shops are more than just great places to eat and drink; they’re community hubs with a story.​
Cabbages & Kings has been part of The Mix building since 2015, welcoming visitors with fresh Paddy & Scott’s coffee, other hot and cold drinks, and a selection of sweet and savoury bakes on the counter. Offering catering for events booked at The Mix and for external businesses.​
Duck & Teapot opened in 2022 to meet the growing need for a friendly, welcoming café at Needham Lake. Now a favourite stop for walkers, families, and dog owners, it serves everything from sandwiches and smoothies to ice cream (plus pupuccinos for four-legged friends).​
The coffee shops in Ipswich and Hadleigh have recently been acquired through a partnership with Paddy & Scott's. This partnership brings together two values-led Suffolk organisations with a shared commitment to community. From 1st April 2026, profits from the two former Paddy & Scott’s Coffee Shops will help fund The Mix’s vital free youth work services for young people across Suffolk. These have been rebranded to The Mix Coffee Shops, and later in 2026, the Stowmarket and Needham Lake cafés will become The Mix Coffee Shops too.​
Every sip and every slice helps fund The Mix Stowmarket, a youth charity supporting local young people with mentoring, education, and life-skills programmes. Both cafés are run by 127 Trading Ltd, the trading arm of The Mix, Suffolk youth work charity.​

Our Stowmarket coffee shop is opposite The Regal Cinema inside The Mix building, and is a great place to grab a coffee and bake from the counter, to work, and even hire meeting space at the same time!

Our story
A Journey in Coffee & Community
2012 – The Mix Begins
The Mix opens its doors in Stowmarket, providing support to young people through mentoring, education, and life skills development.
​
2015 – Cabbages & Kings Opens
Our first café is born inside The Mix building. A warm, creative space serving coffee, cakes, and community.
​
2020 – Building Sustainability
The Mix embraces a social enterprise model – reducing reliance on grants and creating income through cafés to fund vital youth services.
​
2022 – Duck & Teapot Launches
Our lakeside café at Needham Lake opens. With dog-friendly ice cream, fresh coffee, and a view to match, it quickly becomes a favourite local spot.

Today – Coffee that Changes Lives
Every latte, slice of cake, and pupuccino helps fund The Mix, creating opportunities and changing lives for young people across Mid Suffolk.
